Grosse-Île is part of the Isle-aux-Grues archipelago. In the heart of St. Laurent River, Grosse-Île was the gateway and quarantine station for thousands of European immigrants. From 1832 to 1937, many Irish immigrants came to Grosse-Île. Created in 2004, the Tomme de Grosse-Île pays tribute to the courage of these immigrants who shaped Quebec and Canada. A plaque on the label shows the Irish Memorial overlooking Grosse-Île.
